Guidelines

The Centre will NOT give advice to a client where there is a conflict of interest.
 We also do not normally provide assistance in the following areas of law:
  • commercial
  • environmental
  • planning
  • small business
  • taxation
  • Conveyancing
  • immigration
  • personal injury compensation (other than victim’s compensation)*
  • detailed and specific advice in regards to an individual’s property settlement*
  • preparation of wills
Or where the client falls into one of the following categories:
  • landlords in tenancy matters,
  • commercial credit providers
  • employers in employment issues
  • males in alleged acts of violence against women (e.g. respondents in Apprehended Violence Orders, defendants charged with assault. This also extends to male defendants in Victims Compensation restitution matters where the matter arises from domestic violence or sexual assault) – Anti-Discrimination Exemption under section 126A
  • males in family law disputes where there is an AVO in place, or an AVO application has been made, for the protection of the other party
  • In some areas of the law the level of advice able to be given by the Centre will be basic only, and the client may be referred elsewhere for more specialised assistance.
